Meet Lissy (Ngāti Hineamaru, Ngāti Kahu) and Rudi Robinson-Cole (Waikato, Ngāti Paoa, Ngaruahine, Te Arawa), a husband and wife duo from Tāmaki Makaurau, who use crochet as their visual language. In 2014, they embarked on a creative odyssey that continues today. From their first major project, 'The Joyride', to their collaborative exhibitions across Aotearoa, their art is a dialogue of their experiences, heritage and dreams. Their most ambitious project yet, 'Wharenui Harikoa', is a testament to their vision of manifesting intergenerational healing and deeply felt joy.
We are honoured to have Lissy and Rudi share their knowledge and experiences with us at Ngā Wāhi Auaha Creative Spaces Conference 2024. Get a glimpse into their world – where every stitch tells a story. In addition, they will be hosting a creative workshop called “Connecting through Arts” where they invite participants to join them in a world where crochet is more than a craft: it’s a language of love, resilience and cultural pride.
Registrations to the conference are now full, however if you would like to watch Lissy and Rudi's presentation live online, you can register as a virtual attendee here.
