Artist Spotlight: Zabella from Ngā Rangatahi Toa

Meet Zabella, a remarkable rangatahi from Ngā Rangatahi Toa, who shares how creative expression—through Kapahaka, dance, singing, rap, and beats—helps her be her true self, connecting with her body and finding peace. In this supportive space, Pou Ārahi (mentors) welcome each student like whānau, creating a community where everyone belongs.

Ngā Rangatahi Toa empowers students who may have struggled in traditional school settings. Through innovative arts and wellbeing programs, we help them reconnect with their potential and access pathways to higher education and employment. Our programs include noho wānanga (learning camps), in-school creative sessions, the impactful Manawa Ora theatre project, fortnightly youth mentoring, job internships, and a unique, family-centered support system. Together, our initiatives guide rangatahi through a journey of self-leadership (rangatiratanga) as they prepare for a successful future.
