At Art for All, creativity is more than an outlet—it’s a pathway to growth, inclusion, and leadership. One inspiring example is Lea, a participant who, through the support of Volunteer New Zealand and funding from the Ministry of Culture and Heritage (MCH), has transitioned into a tutor volunteer role.
One of the goals of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage CARE Fund was to empower participants to grow within their creative spaces:
- artists becoming volunteers
- volunteers stepping into paid employment.
One of our creative spaces, Art for All Auckland, is a prime example of this journey. When Art for All’s Director, Lynda Scott, attended the Ngā Wāhi Auaha Creative Spaces Conference 2024, Lea stepped up and held down the fort, an incredible accomplishment that speaks volumes about the empowerment and opportunities fostered within creative spaces. In this video, Lynda and Lea share their perspectives on this inspiring journey.
Lea’s story highlights how creative spaces can not only nurture artistic talent but also build confidence, leadership, and a sense of purpose.
